Headhuter Sun Block & Anti Rash

In 1989, brothers and longtime surfers Doug and Drew Littlemore of La Jolla, California, launched Headhunter. "We were working as boatmen at Tavarua (Fiji's legendary surf resort) and spending everyday in the water, just getting beat by the sun," says Doug. "The sunscreens at the time weren't up to the task of all-day sessions in the tropical sun. They just wouldn't stay on. And we figured that was the key. There are plenty of sunscreens with the same effective ingredients, but what was the point if they washed off duck-diving the first clean-up set?"

So we set out to build the world's first surfscreen.

With input from fellow boatmen and resort guests, we created the bullet-proof 'Original' formula. According to Drew, "The Original kinda looked like chocolate pudding, but once you put it on, it wasn't going anywhere." Built around FDA-approved UVA and UVB filters, that Original formula is still our best seller.

We have since expanded our line of custom surfscreens to meet the varied needs of the hardcore surfer. With constant input from pro surfers, lifeguards, and surf schools, we're constantly tweaking our formulations to deliver the best 'wave proof' sunscreens in the line-up.
