LeRoy Grannis dies

It is a sad day when one of surfings greatest photographers passes away, LeRoy Grannis died at the weekend at the age of 93. Grannis was at the forefront of sixties and seventies surf photography, his initial career captured the increasing popularity of surfing in California. His career stated off in a dark room in his garage, but he didnt find photography until he was 42.
Recently Grannis was elected to the International Surfing Hall of Fame as the number one lensman in 1966 and in 2002 was awarded SIMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
