Can a snapped surfboard be repaired?

Today the waves hit Porthtowan at last; it was a good 4ft with a strong SE wind which did hold the waves back a bit. There were some awesome sets to be had and i was having so much fun on my 9’0 longboard. However, the fun was short lived after my surfboard snapped! Admittedly the board shouldnt have been surfed in such heavy conditions because the glass was so light. This light glass under pressure from the water can easily crack, and as i have found out force the longboard to snap! Gutted

Im not the kind of person who likes to throw away things when they are broken if they can be fixed. I have given my longboard to the guys at beach beat and they will stick it back together for me. You may ask is this possible? Yes it is possible.

In this case, the shaper will

1. Remove wax

2. Add a new stringer (the wooden bit which runs through the surfboard) to give the surfboard strength

3. Remove the cracked glass

4. Remove a section of the boards glass where the snap is located, so it can have new and thicker glass reapplied(Adds Strength)

5. Sand out and Polish

Cost 80 and i can use this board for those small mellow days. J Pretty expensive surf, but at least its not 600 down the pan.

So before you throw away your snapped surfboard, get it fixed and if you dont want to surf it sell it to somebody who does! No waste and good for the Environment.
